We Cannes do it

Cannes Lions festival 2007 is over so let’s go back to reality. Here are some samples: I’ve listened to Al Gore, watched the end of the world at the Martinez, got a suntan, met a streaker, worked on a famous motorcycle brand, seen over-sized mojitos but what got me there were the best ads in the world. Inspiring!

I’ll be off for a couple of days in Barcelona where I’ll be attending Sonar and its infamous beach parties and from there on I’ll go to Cannes for the Cannes Lions 2007. I’ve set up a moblog for the agency I’m working for so you’ll be able to have a live report from us here. But first I need some rest…zzzzzzzz

Pac-Manhattan

Sunday, October 1st, 2006

manhattan.jpg

Pac-Manhattan is a large-scale urban game that utilizes the New York City grid to recreate the 1980’s video game sensation Pac-Man. This analog version of Pac-man is being developed in NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications graduate program, in order to explore what happens when games are removed from their ‘little world’ of tabletops, televisions and computers and placed in the larger ‘real world’ of street corners, and cities.

A player dressed as Pac-man will run around the Washington square park area of Manhattan while attempting to collect all of the virtual ‘dots’ that run the length of the streets. Four players dressed as the ghosts Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde will attempt to catch Pac-man before all of the dots are collected.

Using cell-phone contact, Wi-Fi internet connections, and custom software designed by the Pac-Manhattan team, Pac-man and the ghosts will be tracked from a central location and their progress will be broadcast over the internet for viewers from around the world…

Off to Corsica

corsica.gif

L’île de beauté is the other name for that splendid French island where I’ll be for the coming ten days. It has quiet a history and character. Napoleon was their most notorious native before his expansion needs.
The good thing is: It has been and is still preserved from ugly mass tourism thanks to a very protective (and independent) mindset from the Corsicans. Let’s tell it this way, they own their land and even if you think it’s yours and you paid for it, they still own it in a certain way. So if you don’t agree to their rules they will dynamite your house with some of their local tnt…boom boom! Off I am

50 years of Polaroid photography

Monday, September 4th, 2006

nycambre2.jpg

This new book showcases the eclectic works of more than 50 internationally known artists and celebrates instant photography’s scientific and artistic achievement. Polaroid photography was invented by Edwin Land. Land was the American inventor and physicist whose one-step process for developing and printing photographs created a revolution in photography - instant photography (in 1946).
For us it was instant joy and even if the picture was crappy there was always something to do with it. 800, is the number of polaroids we took when we were 20 and there’all scanned so maybe one day they’ll be shown but there are a some compromising ones so let’s be wise and wait a little longer before going public…
The polaroid above is an auto-portrait inside an art piece from Dan Graham called “two way mirror cylinder inside cube” and was taken in 1992 in NYC.

Banksy vs Paris Hilton

banksy_paris.jpg

Banksy’s latest stunt is wonderful. He has replaced Hilton’s CD with his own remixes and given them titles such as Why am I Famous?, What Have I Done? and What Am I For? He has also changed pictures of her on the CD sleeve to show her topless or with a dog’s head…Here’s the making of video. Massive!

Awesome, Beautiful, Decadent, Shameless, Raw, Perverted, Horrible, Disgusting, Useless, Amazing, Controversial…can be some of the adjectives to call Lastnightparty.com.
Merlin Bronques, Mr Lastnightparty, shoots young (and famous?) fashionistas during gigs & parties. Is it all about egos, attitude, booze, flesh and fashion or is it more? It doesn’t matter just enjoy these party pictures and strike a pose…
