A friend of mine tipped me a while ago on these documentaries but I didn’t had the time to watch them lately…so last week i finally had the chance to view Searching for the wrong-eyed jesus and Dancing outlaw. The first one is about music, religion and Jim White while Dancing outlaw is about a tap-dancer called Jesco White. What do they have in common? Well they both portray the American south and its strong religious influence, the music and the trailer park trash…Now that I’ve seen them I know why I felt a little uncomfortable to get out of my car when I was in Tennessee back in 2004 for a 2-day trip. I arrived in Nashville, rented a car, drove 600 miles heading south on a road where my only encounters were trailer parks and churches with religious messages alongside the road…

Khan: Excommunication

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Soulseller Khan looks like a 21st century Klaus Nomi but his electronic blues rocks like hell. I first heard of him through a collaboration with Julee “Twin Peaks” Cruise who quotes: “My dog thinks Khan’s music is Devil music…” He’ll be playing live at Sonar in a couple of months.

Doggy woofer

Monday, October 16th, 2006

woofer4.jpg

This is functional kitsch: the wrong becomes the new right. By adding a function to an otherwise grotesque object, it acquires new aesthetic values, becoming an object of desire. This woofer holds the mids between an addition to your sound system and your loyal 4 footed companion. Available in a co-axial two way speaker system version (two dogs). Barking not included!
